I felt highly honoured to find my books on sale alongside those of the late Dowager Duchess in the carriage house shop at Chatsworth the other day. She had such an easy style of writing and her books have a truly universal appeal so it’s no wonder they still sell so well.
Whilst in the Chatsworth House car park I also took the opportunity to have a look round the newly restored Game Larder, which houses interpretation of the landscape in Chatsworth Park. The door is always unlocked during daylight hours, so anyone can have a look inside whenever they want to. The mosaic floor is so pretty it’s hard to believe it was covered over and used as a hen house when the 11th Duke and Duchess were at Chatsworth!
